Terms of Use
These terms explain what you can expect from Salkini.me and what we ask of you when you use it.
Last updated:
1. Acceptance of these terms
Salkini.me is a family tree and family connection platform operated by and for the Salkini family of Aleppo, Syria. By browsing this website, applying to join the family tree, or using any member feature, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.
2. Membership and verification
- Membership of the family tree is reviewed and approved by family administrators. Submitting an application does not by itself create membership.
- Administrators may decline or reverse an application where the claimed relationship cannot be established, or where the information provided is inaccurate.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account.
- Accounts are personal. Do not create an account on behalf of another adult without their knowledge and agreement.
3. Accuracy of family information
The family tree is a collaborative historical record. It is assembled from family testimony, documents, and the published family history, and it may contain gaps, approximations, or errors — particularly for earlier generations.
Information on this website is provided for family and historical interest. It is not a legal record of descent and should not be relied on as evidence of identity, inheritance, nationality, or any other legal status. If you find an error, please tell us and we will review it.
4. Content you submit
You keep ownership of the text, photographs, and documents you upload. By submitting content you grant the Salkini family platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, display, and reproduce that content on this website for the purpose of presenting the family tree and your member portfolio.
You confirm that you have the right to submit what you upload. Do not upload photographs of other living people, or personal details about them, without their agreement.
Administrators may edit, hide, or remove content that is inaccurate, unlawful, or that another family member has reasonably objected to.
5. What is visible publicly
- The family tree and member portfolio pages are publicly accessible, so that relatives can find one another. Search engines may index them.
- Your email address and phone number are shown publicly only if you switch those options on yourself.
- You can ask for your portfolio to be unpublished, or for your entry to be reduced to a name-only record, by contacting the administrators.
6. Acceptable use
When using Salkini.me, you agree not to:
- Misrepresent your identity or your relationship to the family
- Harvest, scrape, or bulk-collect member details for marketing or any other purpose
- Use member contact details to send unsolicited commercial messages
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, or that harasses another person
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, data, or the underlying systems
7. AI-assisted features
Some features — CV optimisation suggestions, job-description matching, biography drafting, skill suggestions, and translation — are produced with the help of third-party AI services. Their output is a draft suggestion, not professional advice, and it can be wrong. Review anything generated before you publish or rely on it. Content you submit to these features is sent to the relevant AI provider for processing.
8. Intellectual property
The Salkini.me name, design, and software are the property of the site operator. The published family history book referenced on this site remains the property of its authors and publisher. You may share links to public pages freely; do not republish substantial parts of the tree or of member portfolios elsewhere without permission.
9. Availability and changes
Salkini.me is a family project offered free of charge and provided "as is", without warranty. We may add, change, suspend, or withdraw features at any time, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and continued use after that date means you accept the revised terms.
10. Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove an account that breaches these terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting the administrators. Where an entry forms part of the historical family record, we may retain the name and family relationships after closure while removing your profile content and contact details.
11. Liability and governing law
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website, or for the accuracy of genealogical information or of content submitted by members. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the site operator is established, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of that country.
